My name is Mike Huetter and I have always been interested in license plates. I started collecting when I was 9 years old. The first plate I collected was a plate my dad picked up for me when we were traveling in Ireland in 1974. Dad says he found it on the street when he was going for an early morning walk but my mother seems to remember he found it on the back of a car in the back of a petrol station when he was walking around the block with a screw driver in his pocket. I was very excited to get it and it has evolved into a lifelong hobby of mine that I really truly enjoy.

Every time I travel it is my goal to pick up a license plate from wherever I might be. If it is looking in antique stores in Seattle or going to a garage sale on my honeymoon on the island of Kauai, chances are I am looking for license plates. While most people driving down the road will notice the old car traveling next to them, I will notice the license plates.


Mike Huetter, founder and owner of LP Maps, was born and raised in Sacramento, Ca. He lives with his wife, Robyn, and son, Brennan, in Sacramento. He is a member of the Automobile License Plate Collectors of America (A.L.P.C.A.), currently works for Lyon Real Estate, and is golf professional and member of the PGA of America since 1994.
